Top 5 Songs...

That Should Have Been Recorded By The Scissor Sisters

With Magic Hour fresh out of the box, my friend Bibs thought it would be interesting to see my take on 5 songs that should have been recorded by the Scissor Sisters. It was a pretty fun little challenge and here's what I came up with.

5. Warm Leatherette - The Normal

4. Don't You Want Me - Human League

3. Sex Dwarf - Soft Cell

2.  All I Wanna Do - Heart

1.  Why'd You Come In Here (Looking Like That) - Dolly Parton

Honorable Mention

The Boy is Mine - Brandy & Monica

  1. Don't You want me...of course!

    Macarthur Park - Donna Summer
One of the many things I love about SS is that they have dark themes to magnificent pop/dance records. This is a song about how a lovely park in LA turns into a crack den at night fall. Werk!

Where Love Lives - Alison Limerick
One of my favourite dance tunes ever and I think it fits.
It Wont Be Long - Alison Moyet
More dark lyrics in pop. I love the change of lyrics chorus to chorus "tangle of clothes we left lying there", "tangle of rope we left lying there," "Wallpaper stain by the cup I threw at your head." I love love love Alison Moyet and I think the strong female POV would appeal to Ana.
    Army of Me - Bjork
More dark pop. Love the rock out in this.
    Tiny Dancer - Elton John
    couldn't not have some Elton.

Also rans of Robyn's Dancing on my Own, ABBA's One of Us, George Michael's Outside and Candi staton's You've Got The Love.

  2. You know they'll be on Fearne's show. I think they should do a Live Lounge cover of Army of Me.

  3. Now covers are a different question. I'd like to see a Scissor Sisters slant on Sign O the Times.

  4. Also I have stopped listening to Radio One as they don't seem to be bothered about using the word gay as a synonym for stupid(massive rant if you ask privately and I have many cites that even Wiki couldn't take it down!), however I quit listening to Fearne as she never got my name right in my texts. Who the fuck is Bisby?!
I just download the Live Lounge albums if they interest me.
