The Overtones are one of those bands that will probably never garner commercial success in the United States because they are very difficult to classify. Doo Wop, Pop, Acapella, Barbershop. It seems they have the ability to do it all. I am a fan and think they are one of the classiest acts in pop music today. They are always dressed to the nines and they have yet to release a video that was less than fantastically visual. This song is just a high energy romp that will have you bouncing along in no time. The Overtones - Loving The Sound
Where do I even begin. I guess I need to thank Paul over at Fizzy Pop for doing an incredible video breakdown which made me watch this video. Secondly, wow....I mean wow. This is incredible. The guys in the group are lush, the sound is lush and this song is just over the top incredible. These are the guys you want to take home to meet your mom. They are the ones that you doodle little hearts around your names in geometry class instead of learning theorems. They are amazingly classy young men that can actually deliver when it comes to the art of singing. Not many people can actually do that anymore and for them to just hand you this amazing harmony and performance, I mean damn. If you want to kill some time and not feel bad for doing it, subscribe to their Youtube channel and just watch the videos. I think I have found my next big obsession.
I have been a huge fan of doo wop and vocal harmonies all my life and to hear a modern band throwing a contemporary spin on the genre does a body good. This is the music that you just feel good listening to. It's the music that lifts you up and replenishes your soul. It's fun, it's wholesome and makes you want to just step back in time.
