Lectrolips - Heartbreak Siren
I've been writing about these guys for 4 years now. And as long as they keep making synthpop like this, I'll be writing about them for a long time to come. It's a damn good thing when an artist knows how to build a track. The tempo of this song absolutely echoes the lyrics about running. It's fast and frenetic. It has this feeling of leaving it all behind and trying to start new. It's about mistakes and heartbreaks and needing to find balance and security. And it's packaged brilliantly in typical Lectrolips fashion. It's a solid pop track and given the opportunity, I think it will spawn some amazing remixes as well.

Lectrolips - Daddy Issues
The synth is brilliant, the lyrical content is brilliant. It's a song that challenges you to begin with but then you sink in and listen to how it all comes together and it's pretty spectacular. UK based group, Lectrolips has never shied away from pushing boundaries with their lyrical content and I think they are amazing for making you step away from the headphones and say, "Wow. I'm honestly glad I heard someone say that in a song". This is a song about relationships and the pain that can be brought on through the course of one. It's about taking a stand and realizing that you don't have to be taken advantage of and made to fee less than. It's about taking your power back and being your own man in spite of your own self. It's walking away from someone that knows exactly what they can do to hurt you and that's an amazing realization on your own. It takes quite a bit to get to that point sometimes when things are done under the guise of love.
I am quite glad that this song exists and I honestly hope that people get to hear it because this one track could give someone the courage to end something that needed to have ended a while ago.

Lectrolips - NSA
When I first saw the title, I was thinking about all the controversy in the media lately over all the government meddling in sharing of information over the internet so I assumed the initials were National Security Agency. It took less than 20 seconds to realize I was wrong. This song is fantastic. It's subversive without being sleazy. It makes me want Lectrolips to tour with Liquid Diet. It makes me dance. It makes me move. It's built in incredible levels. If you just close your eyes and let it wash over you, it's a hell of an electro track. It just makes you move. If you listen to the lyrics, it's a bit cheeky and a bit camp. It's expertly crafted, not a note missing or out of place. Ant and Leo have created another brilliant track. It's got a feel of a mixed media project with how the vocals are placed against the spoken portion. I think I hear something new each time I listen to it.
I don't know how popular these guys are in the UK but I want them to be gigantic because they make great music. It's quality work that makes you want to hear more. They have a strong point of view and don't shy away from it. That creates a desire for me to hear more and to want to throw money at them.

Lectrolips - Vanilla
This song is so funky. It makes you give it some deep shoulder action as you just settle down into the groove. It also borders on and leans so heavily into the sexy sexy time that it's swoon worthy. The beat is crazy and the lyrics bring to the forefront all the ideas you're having while being invaded by the groove. Leo and Anthony have a mastery of their craft that this music is just an extension of who they are. It's some of the funkiest synth you've heard to date.
Lectrolips is one of the most interesting groups you've never heard of but that's okay because they are steadily producing music and one day you will stop to listen to me telling you about them or you will hear the group and be all like, "Damn, that's funky!" and I'll have to say, "I told you so". So do us both a favor and get on the bandwagon right now with these guys.

Meet Lectrolips
Tonight has been a really cool night. I have found some amazing new music from the UK that I want to support because it's totally independent and it's got some pretty amazing production for something that has no backing from a label. I think that's what's incredible about the music industry right now, the software to create music has become so accessible that people that would have never had the opportunity before can now make music and express themselves and what's even cooler is that there are people out there that will listen to their stuff and totally dig it.
So I'd like to introduce you to Lectrolips, a pretty cool new synthpop duo who have created quite a large library of pretty great stuff on their own. I think what I like about their version of synth is there is more of a computer based vibe that makes me want to break out my old Kraftwerk albums. It has more of a digital sound that separates them from quite a few of the other artists that can tend to run together. I think if they were to go on tour, I'd like them to go out with Simon Curtis. I think their overall production value and vibe would work great together. I think they would also work well with Desire or College.
The tracks I've showcased here are a pretty great sampling of their brand. It's funky with a dance beat that makes you bob your head and tap your feet without trying. There is a little autotune/vocoder on the tracks but with the overall digital production, it actually works and plays into the feeling. It makes me think of "Computer Blue" by Prince. I can't pick one specific song out of these that I like better than any of the others because they are all great in their own way. I love the bass line and spoken lyrics in "Voyeur". It's a top track, I think actually. The piano in "Glimmer" absolutely seals the deal. It's so moody and atmospheric. "The Record Sound" is just a really fun song with a killer beat. "Resurrection" is this driving track that will knock you down with it's power. It's not overdone either. It's a great piece of work that just throbs all over my sound system. That leaves, "Love Has Lied" and it is far from the least impressive song. I think that if I had to pick a song out of this pack to show off their overall talents, this would be it. The production is great, the lyrics are choice and it's a pretty rad track.
Needless to say, I want to support these guys and I want you to as well. They are pretty incredible and I've only been a fan for a few hours. I think I am going to find more and more about these guys that is great. As I do, you know I'll post it for you to see.
