Alexandra Burke - Elephant

The video for the lead single off Alexandra's forthcoming album was recently released to a lukewarm reception in the UK. Fans are complaining that it isn't different enough from her first album and it doesn't show as much growth as an artist. I call shenanigans on that.  The difference between American Pop versus British Pop is vast and wide.  I love how British Pop is so fueled by dance music and is so upbeat and full of energy.  I think this is a solid example of a proper pop song that showcases her talent and shows off the amazing effortlessness that is her voice.  The range she has is incredible and she achieves her highs and lows like someone that has been in the industry for years and years and in reality she only won The X-Factor in 2008.   I really like the song but don't really understand why the producer, Erick Morillo, gets a "featuring" credit.  What do you think about the song?

Alexandra Burke - Start Without You

Ms. Burke delivers total pop fabulousness in this video. She absolutely has the vocal chops to pull the quirkiness of this song off. If it were a weaker singer, the song would be a total fail. It's the strength of her voice that makes this work. The calypso feel of the chorus just makes your toe tap and the introduction of Laza Morgan gives it that "irie" feeling of Caribbean music. Alexandra is the fifth season winner of X-Factor, Simon Cowell's talent show that puts American Idol to shame. I hope she can break into the American music scene but if not, I am totally happy with youtube and import CDs.

Oh did I fail to mention the dozen of so shirtless men all over this like white on rice? That's my gift to you.
