House Music is a tricky thing. If either the production value or the vocals are off in the slightest, the entire sound is done for. Throw in the curve ball of a male vocalist in house music and the potential for disaster is increased 10 fold. I'm a fan of New Now Next Pop Music on Logo and I watch it as often as I can so that I can get introduced to dance music I might not have been introduced to otherwise. So I was watching the other day and found the following video:
Normally, I'm not a fan of the uplifting, feel good song but something about this one grabbed me and made me take notice. I don't know if it was the video itself or if it was Brian but the song quickly grew on me. Enough so that I ran to youtube and started looking for other videos. I found the videos for Whatcha Doin to Me, I'm Not Crazy and Breathe Life. Still impressed with the quality of the writing and the overall music, I bought his CD from cdbaby.com. Once I have gotten a full opportunity to actually spend time with the tracks, I'll do a Track by Track but right now I don't think I can fully do that justice. I can tell you that Everything Changes is shaping up to be my favorite track on the album. More than anything, though, I think it's necessary to support independent artists like Brian because they are what music is about. Not the mega stars that are so over processed you can't really hear a real note in their whole discography. So I leave you with the title track, Breathe Life and see how you like it.
